In 1634, Feng Meng Long arrived at Shou Ning Country in Fujian Province to take up the position of County Magistrate. He was 61 years old then. He repelled the invasion of Japanese pirates, fought with tigers, and eradicated the bandits. He also personally researched, wrote and completed “The History of Shou Ning County”. For his diligence, love of the people and integrity, Feng was highly regarded by the commoners, who all agreed that he is the most uncorrupted and talented County magistrate.
